New School

Starting at a new school can feel exciting, but it can also feel like a big change. No matter how you’re feeling there’s always help available.

A new start

Some of you will be starting at a new school soon. This could be a new primary school or you could be moving up to secondary school. This can feel exciting and it may be something you’re really looking forward to. You could feel happy about making new friends and having new teachers.

Feeling Worried

It’s ok if you’re feeling a bit worried. It can feel like a big change, having to find your way around a new school and being surrounded by lots of new people. This could make you feel worried about not fitting in and finding it hard to make new friends.

You may also be worried about being bullied in your new school. Maybe you were bullied in your old school and are worried about it happening again. Bullying is not okay, never your fault and your new teachers are there to support you.

Remember

Sometimes we can worry about things like starting a new school, and it ends up being a lot better than we expected. If you're feeling worried it can really help to talk to someone about it. This could be an adult you feel safe with or Childline. You don’t have to go through anything alone. No problem is too big or too small.
