5 ways to cope with worries

Whatever’s worrying you about the future, there are ways to cope and feel more in control. And we’ve got advice to help.

The future can feel scary sometimes, you might be worried about your own future or what’s going to happen with things like the environment or coronavirus.

If your worries are starting to take over, there are things you can do to cope:

  • Take a break
If you’re struggling to get work done because you’re stressed, take time to stop and do something you enjoy. Taking regular breaks can actually help you get more done.
  • Remember it's okay to worry
Everyone worries from time to time, and it can help to set a short amount of time each day to think about all of the things you’re worried about.
  • Learn new ways to relax
Everyone is different, and trying something new that you enjoy can help keep you motivated. Try something new with the Coping Kit.
  • Focus on what you can control
Make a list of everything you’re worried about, big and small. Then cross out anything you can’t control. Pick one or two small things from the rest to focus on.
  • Talk about it
Talking about how you’re feeling can help you think about new ways of coping, and can stop you feeling alone.
