The last year has been difficult. And it can feel overwhelming if you’ve been told to stay off school or you’re stuck at home. But Childline is here to talk to you about anything.
To make sure we can support you and keep all our staff and volunteers safe, we’ve had to make some changes to how we work. You won't be able to start talking to a counsellor until 9am, and from Monday 18th January:
- You can call us or have a 1-2-1 chat 7 days a week, from 9am-10:30pm
- From 10:30pm-3:30am, you can call us for free on 0800 1111
Our counsellors won’t be available from 3:30am-9am, but you can send an email using your Childline account any time and you’ll usually get a reply within 24 hours. In an emergency, you should always call 999.
Talking on the phone can be hard sometimes, especially when you’re used to talking online. But we’ve got advice to help if you’re scared. You can also get support from other young people on the message boards.
If you join the queue for a chat before 10:30pm, you’ll still be answered by a counsellor. And even though 1-2-1 chat isn’t available on the app right now, you can still use your Childline account to talk using our website.
Everyone at Childline is working hard to make sure we can be here for you, especially during the pandemic. And we’re doing everything we can to make sure we can stay open whenever you need us.
