My Lovely Home

Dear Sam, I dont have a major problem but, my neighbours (who r really noisy and a bit annoying) r getting their back garden done, they have a small digger and its broken a bit of the fence, then more and more, they said they would replace it and i know its just a fence but...ive just got so many child hood memories there...like me drawing things on it with chalk, using it as a goal post, and like i said, i know its just a fence but...I DONT KNOW!!!! I feel embarrassed when i want to talk about it but any way, bye, thanks for reading :( :)

Hi there,

You might feel sad and frustrated when something you love is damaged or taken away. Where you live and the things you have can mean a lot to you when you hold fond childhood memories, and it’s natural to feel attached to them.

It’s okay to share how important the original fence was to you. You could talk to someone at home about your memories, and ways you could keep some of the original fence as a memory. It can help to ask whether you could have any say in choosing the new fence, or if there are ways to keep any of the fence that was broken.

Even if you can’t keep the fence, there can be other ways to keep memories of that time of your life. If you’re able to keep part of the original fence, you could try turning it into a piece of wall art or keeping it as a memory.

Creating a memory box can be a place to keep items that remind you of anything you’ve cherished. It can be a place where you can revisit memories of your childhood. Your memory box could include a drawing you've made or an old photo. You could write down specific memories that mean a lot to you and include these in your memory box.

Feeling very sad after losing something you love is called grief. Writing your feelings down can be a helpful way to offload. If you don’t want to write you can always use the Art Box to express your feelings in a creative way.

Take care,

Sam
