Hi there,

Lots of people feel upset and angry sometimes, even over things that might not affect others in the same way. It’s important to acknowledge how you’re feeling, and you don’t have to manage these feelings alone.

When you’ve been feeling angry or upset over different things, it can help to try and identify what specific situations lead to these feelings. Understanding your triggers can help you to be more aware of the kinds of situations you’ll find harder, and can help you feel more prepared to manage how you’re feeling.

When you’re struggling with your feelings, there are lots of techniques you can use. For example, if you’re getting angry then try taking a moment to pause, take a few slow breaths, and focus on staying calm and grounded. Focusing on what you’re doing in the moment can help you to respond to situations more thoughtfully. We’ve got lots of tips to help with anger that can help.

Talking about what's bothering you can help you understand more about how you’re feeling, and give you a different point of view. You could speak to a trusted friend, family member, or get support from Childline. Sharing your feelings can also help you to feel more supported and in control.

When you’re thinking about ways to improve your mood generally, being more active can help. Whether it's a walk or any form of exercise you enjoy, it can help you feel better both physically and emotionally.

Remember, it’s natural to feel angry and upset sometimes and it’s great that you’re taking steps to help yourself. Whatever’s happening, Childline is always here to support you.

Take care,

Sam
