Hi there,

Lots of people can feel insecure, and it can feel hard when it affects how you dress and stops you feeling comfortable in the heat. However you’re feeling, there are ways to feel more comfortable with yourself.

The first step is understanding yourself. It can help to talk about the reasons you want to wear baggy clothes with someone you trust. That could be a friend, someone in your family, or anyone you feel safe with. It can feel hard to open up with people close to you sometimes, but Childline is a place you can share anything.

Some people feel a lot of pressure to look a certain way. It can help to remember that often what you see online isn’t achievable, fair, or even real. Learning to avoid comparing yourself to others can help you to feel better and more confident in all aspects of your life.

When you’re ready, try wearing new kinds of clothes just in your bedroom or around your house. The more you wear clothes you want to, the more confident and comfortable you can feel. Remember, how you want to dress and express yourself is your choice. It’s good to experiment with your style and find out what you like.

It can take time to build your confidence and self-esteem. One way to start is to write one positive thing about yourself each day. This could be about how you look, something you’ve done, or part of your personality. Sometimes when you’re struggling to think of something, it can help to ask people you’re close to. You could even do something positive to then write about.

If you’re looking for more ideas about your style, building your self-esteem, or making it through the summer, you’re not alone.

Take care,

Sam
