Hi there,

Where we live or stay can have a big influence on how we feel: for some people it can be positive and happy and for others it can be difficult and challenging. No matter what's going on for you or how you're feeling, there's always help available.

There can be lots of reason why our house or home is a place we no longer want to be, it can be relationships with family members, a lack of the right facilities, overcrowding or a house or neighbourhood that you do not like or feel safe in are just a few. It's important to prioritise your mental and emotional well-being. If you're comfortable, consider talking to someone you trust about what you're going through, such as a friend, family member, teacher, or mental health professional. They can offer support, guidance, and help you explore potential solutions. Talking to someone can help to understand what is going on for you more clearly and to break problems down in pieces that are easier to cope with and find solutions for.

There are also lots of help in finding ways to cope on the Childline website such as the Calm Zone and Coping Kit. The message boards can also be a great place to get help and support form other young people who have experienced a similar situation.

If you need immediate help, you could also reach out to one of the counsellors at Childline who can help you to finds ways to cope with how you're feeling and also help you to look at ways to make things better in the longer term. Some young people also find visiting their doctor can be helpful when they're feeling overwhelmed or finding it hard to cope.

Take care,

Sam
