Hi there,

Being bullied can be upsetting, no matter who it’s by. When it’s bringing up difficult memories from the past then that can make it feel even harder to cope with. You’re not alone in what’s happening, and you can get support.

Bullying can happen to anyone, and anyone can be a bully. Whether your bully is younger, in the same year, or is older than you, you’ve got a right for it to stop. It can feel scary when you don’t think you’ll be believed, but it can help to remember that every school will have an anti-bullying policy.

An anti-bullying policy includes exactly how your school should respond to bullying, including ways to help support you and make sure it doesn’t happen. Telling your teacher or someone at school means that they can help make sure the bullying doesn’t carry on. If it’s hard to say it out loud, you could try writing it down or sending an email. Even when you’re not sure who someone is, you can describe them to your teachers.

You might also find it helpful to talk to someone about how the bullying in the past has affected you. This could be with a Childline counsellor or a trusted adult.

Remember, you deserve to be treated with respect by everyone.

Take care,

Sam
