Tips for a healthy mind

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of any other part of your body. A healthy mind can make day-to-day life easier and more enjoyable.

It can make you more resilient too, so that dealing with life changes and difficult emotions is more manageable.


  • Do at least one thing you enjoy daily
    Read a book, make a playlist, have a bath, spend time with your pet, cook or watch tv.
  • Play Tower of Confidence
    This game helps you think about the great things about yourself.
  • Take a few minutes every day to connect with nature
    Watch the clouds change shape and float by, look and listen for birds, watch and listen to the wind in the trees.
  • Try following a yoga video a few times a week

  • Create a good sleep routine
    Work towards healthy sleep habits with a regular bedtime. Allow your mind time to wind down before going to bed. Avoid your phone, tablet and game console for a while and try to get homework and revision done in plenty of time.
  • Know who your cheerleaders are
    Think about who supports and encourages you. This could be adults at home or school, your friends, the Childline counsellors or young people on the Childline message boards.
  • Eat well
    Eat a varied and balanced diet and drink plenty of water to stay healthy.
