My dance

Hi Sam, I wanted to talk to you about my dance. So dance is my entire world- I've been doing it since I was 3 and it means so much to me. However, recently i quit my dance classes because the venue was terrible. It was far too small to dance in and just not a nice place overall. Little did i know, that was the worst decision I could make. I was hoping I could just start a new dance class but my mum said no because it is too expensive. I never knew how much it actually meant to me until I got it snatched away. i was wondering if you knew what I could do.

Hi there,

Sometimes we don’t realise how important something is to us until it’s gone. We can all make decisions we thought was right for us at the time that we wish were different and everyone can make decision they later regret.

Try to think about whether your you’d want to go back to your old dance class, even when it had issues for you. It’s a good starting point when thinking about the future and what would work for you. It can also help to think about different lower cost alternatives, like dance clubs. If you’re not sure where to start, your school or college might have information to help.

When you’ve thought about it, try to have an honest conversation with your mum. You can share whether you’d go back to your old class, the costs, and how much this means to you. Talking about it all can help you think about solutions together. Sometimes making time to focus on what you can do can help you feel more in control.

If dance classes aren’t an option right now, it’s okay natural to feel down about that. It’s important to remember that you don’t have to cope alone, sometimes making time to talk can help.

Remember, even if you can’t join a class now, you can continue dance at any age. In the meantime, you could try creative ways to keep doing dance. This could be at home creating routines yourself or with friends, or even free dance videos online.

Take care,

Sam
