Hi there,
Vapes and e-cigarettes are devices that heat chemicals to create a mist which is then inhaled. They often contain nicotine, which can make the vape addictive and harder to stop once you start, even if you don’t do it every day. Even vapes that say they have no nicotine in have been known to have traces of it. It’s against the law for anyone to sell a vape to an under 18-year-old.
It's great that you want to stop vaping. There are lots of things that can make this feel difficult, but there’s also lots of support. Visiting your doctor is the best way to get advice on stopping. You can also get lots of advice from Frank. Our coping kit gives different ideas and distractions for when things get hard. You could also share ideas with others on the message boards.
Using other people’s vapes can be dangerous and unhealthy, even if they’re cleaned. You can pick up germs, infections, and other dangerous diseases. Vapes you’ve found could also contain chemicals or drugs that are unsafe for you to use.
It’s always okay to say no to others about vaping, or spend time away from people who are pressuring you to vape. Taking it one day at a time and trying new healthier things can help. We’ve got lots of advice to help you cope with peer pressure around things like vaping.
Remember, you can always get support from Childline about your vaping or any other worries.
Take care
Sam

You can ask me about anything you want, there's nothing too big or small. I read every single letter but I can only answer a few each week. My replies are published here on my page.
