Breast size?

Hi, Sam. I just got my first bra and I know this is weird but I've been looking at my breasts in the mirror a lot   I feel really weird about them because one is a bit larger than the other. Is that normal?

Hi there,

Bodies come in all different shapes and sizes. Whilst magazines and TV sometimes make it look like everyone else’s body is perfect, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Different sized breasts are completely normal and are not something to be worried about.

There are plenty of things that are not perfect about everyone’s body. Some of them might feel a bit embarrassing to talk about. What’s important to remember though is that even if you’re feeling embarrassed about mentioning it, it’s likely that other people have similar worries.

Breasts in particular can be different shapes, sizes and even heights – one might be a bit bigger than another or in a bit of a different place. And during puberty they can grow at different time. Although models and celebrities seem like they have perfect bodies, it takes a lot of work to make them look that way. Natural bodies are rarely perfect.

Lots of people worry about their bodies, especially what other people think of them – but try to remember that most likely everyone else has the same fears and insecurities.

Thanks for the letter.

Take care,
Sam
