Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your experience. This can always be helpful for other children and young people.

Bulling is never ok and your friend calling you names and making comments about your body is not right. It's great that you've been able to share what is going on for you and writing this letter is an important first step in getting help and support. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness and there are a few things you can do to get the bullying to stop and to make yourself feel better too.

One thing that can help is to tell someone your trust about what is going on. For some people this might be a parent or carer, while for others it could be another friend or a teacher. Talking to your friend who is bullying you could be an option too – sometimes if a friend understands the negative impact their behaviour is having on you, it can help them to stop and change their behaviour.

In some cases when the bullying is online, people might keep a record of text messages or record screenshots of the bullying to show someone else what has been happening. It can also help to do things you enjoy that help to take your mind off things and help you relax – that can be different for everyone but the Coping Kit and the Calm Zone on the Childline website can offer great help and ideas when things are tough, or you need a distraction. The counsellors at Childline can offer great help too.

Take care.
