Keeping up with homework

Homework can be a big part of school. It’s not always easy to keep up, but we’ve got advice to help.

Whether you’re being set work at school or learning at home, it can sometimes be tough to concentrate or make time for homework. Try our tips to make things easier:

  • Do a bit at a time
Homework can feel overwhelming, so try breaking it down. Instead of doing everything in one go, focus on just one or two pieces of work.
  • Set a schedule and give yourself plenty of time
Keep a list of all the work you need to do, and decide when you’re going to do it. Make sure you give yourself time to take breaks after you’ve done the work.
  • Take away the distractions
Turn off notifications, or close any tabs you don’t need open. If you can, try to work at a table, instead of your bed or somewhere you relax.
  • Reduce your stress
A little stress can keep you motivated, but too much can be harmful. If your stress is stopping you from concentrating, take a break and do something to feel good and calm yourself down.
  • Ask for help
If you’re struggling with a piece of work, you don’t have to cope alone. It can help to talk to someone you trust, like a parent, friend or teacher.
