Hi there,
Im glad you took the time to write and tell me about how you self-harm and that you dont want anyone to find out about it. Its brave of you to tell me this and I really appreciate your honesty. I can understand how youre worried about the upcoming school injections and whether an adult will see signs of self-harm when its your turn to get an injection.
From what youve told me, youre most worried that people are going to judge you for harming yourself and that its going to make things worse for you. Everyone has different opinions on self-harm but its yours that matters most. The better you understand it yourself, the easier it could be to explain to someone else.
I wonder if talking to someone about your self-harm without being judged would help you to talk more openly to others about it. ChildLine can give you that space where you can say whatever you feel comfortable with. Maybe you can think about talking to us by phone, 1-2-1 chat or email.
We also have a lot of information on self-harm here on our website. You might also want to check out our message boards on self-harm, where young people post messages to support each another.
I hope reading messages from other young people who have struggled with the same feelings and issues youre dealing with will help you feel a bit less alone right now.
Thank you for your honesty and for sending this letter.
Take care,
Sam
