Hi there,
Thanks for your letter and well done for getting in touch. I can hear that you're worried about your phone and about telling your dad. Dropping your phone was an accident, and accidents do happen from time to time. Even so, it sounds like a difficult situation for you. It was really clever to put your phone in a box of rice and I hope this helped.
It's good you want to be honest with your dad and let him know what's happened. Perhaps explaining it was an accident and how it happened might help him to understand you could also say how worried youve been about it. It also might be a good idea to think about when would be the best time to speak to you dad, for example a time when he's relaxed and calm.
If you wanted to, you could always contact one of our counsellors via 1-2-1 chat or by calling 0800 1111 and rehearse with a counsellor what you might say to your dad. If your dad is annoyed at you, ChildLine is here to support you with this as well.
Take care,
Sam
