Sam

Hi there,

It’s good to hear from you and I’m glad you’ve written to me. I can hear how this is something that is on your mind a lot at the moment.

Lots of young people have worries and thoughts about their sexuality and for some people it can take a little while before they feel sure about this part of themselves. Looking at people of the same sex doesn’t mean that someone is gay or lesbian and taking your time to think about this is okay.

Looking at different people and talking to different types of people can be an important part of getting to know yourself. It sounds like you are worried about the fact you maybe be a lesbian. Talking to someone who has gone through a similar experience maybe something that could help you think about things and possibly help you to understand things more clearly.

A safe place where you might be able to talk to other young people about your sexuality and the feelings you have is the ChildLine message boards. I know that there have been a few posts made by people asking similar questions.

If you wanted to talk more about this you could get in touch with a ChildLine counsellor. A ChildLine counsellor is someone you could talk over your feelings with. ChildLine counsellors don’t judge and can keep what you’ve said confidential.

You can get in touch with a ChildLine counsellor through the Talk section of the website. You can email them, or log on for a 1-2-1 chat (an instant messenger) or you can call us on 0800 1111, free and without it showing up on any bills.

Take care,

Sam
