Hello there,
Talking to someone about periods can be difficult, especially when its happening for the first time. You might not be sure about what you can use or how you can get the right sanitary products but there are a number of people you could talk to about periods. Finding the person you are most comfortable with is important.
Whenever the people looking after you seem distracted, it can make it harder to feel like you can talk to them. Having a baby is a big change but it doesnt mean your sister shouldnt have time for you. Its okay for you to talk about this with her because its really important to you at the moment.
If you dont feel like you want to talk to your sister then there could be other people you could ask. School nurses usually have the kind of products you need when youre stuck, or at least will be able to help you get tampons or sanitary pads.
Theres no need to be ashamed or embarrassed about asking someone at school or other relatives you trust about this its something the majority of women go through. Most women will probably be happy to help. You can also talk to a counsellor at ChildLine of course and they would be happy to listen to you and offer you advice and support.
Take care,
Sam

You can ask me about anything you want, there's nothing too big or small. I read every single letter but I can only answer a few each week. My replies are published here on my page.
