Hi there,
It can be really upsetting and scary when family members argue and fight. Fights can be verbal, where people shout at each other and say hurtful things. And fights can be physical, where people try and hurt another person. Sometimes fights can include bullying or ignoring people, making them feel like theyre not part of the family.
When fighting happens, people often find their own ways of coping. This could include things like joining in with the shouting, hurting other people or themselves, or withdrawing into themselves or keeping away from other people.
Families can help you to cope and to support you during difficult times. So when theyre the ones causing the issue it can be hard to know where to turn for support.
Another family member might be able to help. They may understand the family setup and be able to intervene on your behalf to help you sort things out. If you dont have anyone in your wider family that you can talk to, you might feel able to speak to another adult you trust, like a teacher or friend.
Remember that you can talk to one of our counsellors about anything on your mind, like your feelings and your worries about your situation. They are there to listen and support you.
Take care,
Sam
