Sam

Hello there,

Thanks for taking the time to write to me. I can hear that you are really worried about your friend because she is going out with a "weird" guy. It sounds as though he is involved in some illegal stuff and you are right to be concerned. When somebody is taking drugs, their behaviour can be a bit unpredictable.

I am just wondering if you have shared your concerns with your friend. You didn't tell me about how you and your friend deal with difficult situations. Sometimes our friends listen and take our advice. But sometimes they might get annoyed. It might be a good idea for you and your friend to take a look at the smoking and drugs pages in the Explore section. This might help your friend see for herself the dangers of smoking and taking drugs.

It is not okay for this guy to pressure your friend into sexting him. It's really important not to send images if you are threatened or forced to do it as once it has started it can get harder to stop.

At ChildLine we've just launched a really cool app called “ZIPIT” which your friend might find useful.  The app gives you loads of ways of dealing with people who are asking for sexual images. You can also read more about what can happen with sexting and how to make it stop.

I imagine that it is difficult for you to see your friend involved with this guy. Trying to support a friend can bring lots of different feelings up so it may help to have some support and a space to express your thoughts. Is there a trusted adult you can share your thoughts with? Remember ChildLine is here to support you and if you would like to, you can call on 0800 1111 or log in for a 1-2-1 online chat, for free and in private.

Take care,

Sam
