Removing photos online

My friends have used random chat sites before so i decided to try so i can make new friends. As soon as I found someone, they told me to do inappropriate things on the camera and that was when the person screenshotted me and threatened to send the photo all over social media and send it to my family then i stupidly said i was not real. This was all 1 hour ago. I don't know if he sent the photo but all I know is he has it. I am writing for help of how to remove this photo and help from you. And my parents have not been sent anything.

Thanks for helping.

Hi there,

It's against the law for someone to post sexual images of you online if you are under 18 years old. It's not okay that this person tried to force you to do things you didn't want to do and it's important to know how to keep yourself safe online. If there are sexual or naked images of you online that you want help taking down, Childline have a way to help you try and do that.

There are very few places on the internet that are completely safe and it's always good to be aware of what you are sharing and who you are talking to. Some chat websites connect you to random people and they can be very dangerous. Sometimes people might try and get you to do things you don't want to do - like taking your clothes off. It's always okay to say no and it's never a good idea, no matter what they say to you.

If there are naked or sexual images of you online that you need help taking down, Childline has been working with the Internet Watch Foundation to make a new way to report that image and try to get it taken down - you can find it here.

It's important to get support after a bad experience with someone online - try not to keep it to yourself. If you don't feel like you can talk to your family, then talking to an adult you trust, a friend or to Childline is a good way of coping with the worry and fear about what has happened.

I hope this has helped, thanks for writing in.
