Hi there,

Fake nudes are when two or more photos are edited together to make it look like someone is naked or posing in the picture. It's not okay for anyone to do this to a photo of you, but it's not always clear what to do about it. I've got a few things you can try.

If the pictures are being shared on social media, you can report those images and try to get them taken down. They should take your report seriously and remove the image - you should also be able to block the people who posted it. If you know the person who is making the images and they go to your school or college then you could also talk to someone you trust at your school about it. Even though these things are happening online, your school might be able to help make this person stop.

The law isn't very clear about this kind of images. It's illegal to make, share or download sexual images of anyone under 18 years old - but when it comes to edited pictures, there aren't many laws about them yet.

There are some laws that might be helpful though- it could be considered harassment if this person is creating fake nudes of you a lot, in which case the police might be able to help. It could help to talk to the police because they might know how to get this person to stop.

The important thing is that you feel supported and that you're not trying to cope with this by yourself. Talking to one of our counsellors can help you to work out what you want to do next. I hope my letter has helped a bit too.

Take care,

Sam
