In Your School or Youth Group - CHIPS

Find out about our work in schools in Scotland

What is CHIPS all about?
CHIPS stands for ChildLine in Partnerships, and works with schools and other organisations to develop a working relationship with young people and their schools or youth groups.

The CHIPS programme raises awareness about ChildLine's work and the issues young people face. We do this in a variety of ways: presentations, workshops, conferences, consultation and resources.

How could CHIPS help my school?
Schools that sign up to CHIPS have ongoing support from our UK-wide CHIPS outreach team who offer advice, information and training in the setting up and development of peer support schemes. If your school is involved, you can sign up to become a peer supporter and help others in your school.

For example, at Mayflower High School there is a team of fully trained peer supporters, ranging from year 9 to sixth form. They also have their own CHIPS room, where anyone can go to talk about a problem. Within the room they have sixth formers that stay in there on a rota type basis.

How can my school get involved with ChildLine?
If you would like your school to get involved with ChildLine through our CHIPS programme, talk to your teacher about it and ask them to get in touch with us or show them this page so they can follow this link. Get in touch with CHIPS here.

How else can I get involved?
We are always interested in what you think about our work through consultation in loads of different ways to make sure all our work is really going to meet your needs.
