    Regular Childline counsellor?

Hi! recently I have seen a few posts of people talking about their regular childline counsellor.... And I am just curious, as every time I use childline, I get a different counsellor, and sometimes I really wish I could have the same one each time.

Sorry, I am just wondering, and it may just be me getting confused, so can anyone explain this to me, please?

If someone's 'situation' is really bad or they are in danger etc. They get a regular councellor. If you would like/need a regular counsellor contact cl, see how they can help.

    Hi,

I'm not really sure I can explain this. Sorry.

I always have different counsillors but I think it would be really nice if you always got the same one. I think counsellors should have a user name like us and then you can see which counsellors are avaliable to talk to. Then you can choose which one to talk to. Apart from that I think you always get a different counsellor each time. I am curious too though, as to whether it is possible to always have the same counsellor. It would be really helpful for people.

counsellors only do one shift a week,. so it isnt a big chance you get the same ones again. i have a reg counsellor its useful but not right for everyone it just depends on ur situation. you have to give more personal details about urself if u have one. Its mostly for if you have specific longer term problems that need more support...

Alright, thanks everyone. I'd actually like a long term regular counsellor, but I doubt my problems are "serious" enough as I know people are in danger, but I am not. Yet, I have been told to see my GP over my issues.

i dont know about what problems they accept, you would have to talk about it to a cousnellor on emails or 1-2-1 chat. Even if the chat with childline doesnt work out, maybe its worth seeing your GP? they could offer support n counselling anyway if you need it... ive been through that process so if you have any questions feel free to ask. xxx

    Hi NewYorkCity,

It looks like you probably have a better idea now about how a regular counsellor at ChildLine works.

As Jen301says, most people don’t have a regular counsellor as they like to be able to call whenever they want and speak to different people. It is different for each person but what usually happens is that if you have a regular counsellor you call them at the same time each week. For that to happen you would need to give ChildLine certain bits of information about you, like full name, age, address, things like that. This is because if they are working with someone on a regular basis, they need to have some details about who you are.

People might need regular counselling for a range of reasons. For example even if the issue is not ‘really serious’ you might have other genuine reasons why talking to different people is really difficult.

The best thing to do is as you say, ask the guys at the counselling team next time you speak to them. They can talk it all through with you.

    I hope that helps

Ah, well that's fair enough. As much as I think I would still want one, I would be worried about giving my address - even though I know I can trust you!

Thanks for letting me know! :)
