    My Idea

    Heey guys

I find that a problem when you are on 1-2-1 chat is that is you sign off then go on again you get a different person and you have to start all over again which is pretty annoying and could be upsetting to some people.

What I think is when you create an account you should be assigned a particular counsellor who helps you. Then they get to know you and it probably won't be as bad.

I know this would mean that 1-2-1 chat would be a problem but at the same time maybe more effective and in a way they could have a group chat and you could help eachother.

Maybe you could create a e-mail  where you e-mail your counsellor???

I think this is a BRILLIANT idea!!! Tha way u would feel a lot more comfortable with someone who has helped u at the worst of times.

But some may not benefit from this because they might feel safer talking to a complete stranger.

But i honestly do think childline should do this.

    Great thinking bee!!! Xxxxxxxxxxx

    Hey there again Bee,

This is an absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G idea! This is a major problem when you are on 1-2-1 chat. And I love your brilliant idea. It is really annoying when you have to talk to somebody new and I agree could be upsetting to some people whose problem is sad. When you create an account it shouldn't just be so you have a personal account, it should be remembered who you are. You should be assigned a particular person as then they really get to know you and understand all your problems not just the ones you are talking to them about.

    Hope this has helped Bee

I agree with your point and maybe it could be optional

heya i agree with you, it's the same with the fact that i can never remember my password and stuff. i think the messages should be viewed by councelors that have talked to you already. possibly also having phone apps would help? it takes ages for me to get on here but i'm constantly on my BlackBerry and i know it would help if the chance was always there xxx

    Hi Bee,

I’m sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you but I was away last week. Thanks for your feedback and I will pass it on to the counselling team.

I can see that starting again with a new counsellor could be annoying. I just wanted to check with you-is it that you are having to sign off or you are getting disconnected?

It would be nice to be able to talk to the same counsellor again, but it is quite difficult in practice. I’m not sure if you know this but most of the counsellors are actually volunteers and don’t always work the same hours each week.

There are also some counsellors that can’t come in every week or only come in for a few hours. Because of that the counselling team says that it is unlikely that you will speak to the same person again. I think they probably don’t want you to be disappointed if they promise something and then in practice it doesn’t happen.

Let me know if you have any other thoughts about this.

    Take care

    Hi Charlie :)

I see what your saying about the counsellors not always being there at the same time but prehaps you could do it as an e-mail so that they don't have to reply straight away like when you e-mail nowadays but you always know who you are e-mailing too. Maybe what you could do it then when the counsellor is online then you could talk to them 1-2-1 but if they aren't just go on normal or message boards.

Another idea is if each counsellor is given a username like us then when we log on we could like search which counsellors are online so if we want to talk to a specific one then we can and maybe you could have a unavailable sign if someone else is talking to them. I suppose there are quite alot of people working at Childline so it's only a suggestion.

    Thanks fo replying :) :)

that is such a good idea. one thing that would really help me is if i could see if they were male or female, because then i feel more comfortably talking to someone of the same sex.

    Hey Eggnog (love the name!!)

I know what you mean. If I want to talk about something like puberty then no offense but I don't really want to tell a man. Its just awkward.

    Thanks for replying
