I came out as a lesbian 3 weeks ago and now...

I've lost most of my friends, one of my 'friends' has gone and told everybody, I'm getting picked on and bullied, then pretty much all of my school knows, and even people in the IV (Sixth) Form next to my school know...

They're even making up lies that I've asked a girl out who I didn't, although I asked one girl out and everybody knows but today a girl on my bus went and said to all of the "Popular people" that I asked her out when I didn't. Will this ever get any better?

Yeah of course it will get better, you can't help who you are! Ignore them, it's like making fun of someone for being blonde, what can you do about it, sure you can dye your hair and get a fake boyfriend, but that's not who YOU are!!! If they can't adapt to you being you, that's their problem not yours...

    Hi hun,

its really sad and distressing to read your story. My coming out experience was different to your's, but I can totally relate to your situation. Yes IT GETS BETTER! Please don't feel like you're whole life is going to be like this - because its not!!! At school people are quite often immature and frankly idiots (to be polite) You're going to leave school one day and work and live with people who respect who you are. You've been really brave to come out at school, so don't let some mindless thugs ruin you're school days for you. If you feel like this bullying is too much for you then talk to somebody at school about it. Every school has an anti-bullying policy and this should include homophobic bullying (anti-gay bullying) Its not OK for people to bullying other people, so if you speak up you will get help! If you're worried about teachers at school knowing you're gay then don't worry - you don't have to tell them you're gay. They should deal with this incident of bullying regardless of your sexuality. Good luck hun x

Of course it will get better. Somepeople will never change their views but many people can. Those who are not great about it now but see how great you are will soon overcome their prejudice. It's not right getting bullied though and I think you should talk to a teacher you trust. They can help things get sorted out. Homophobia is just ignorance but if they are educated they might start to understand

    Hey hun

I know how you feel i came out as a lesbian a couple of months ago and even now they tease me about it. I just ignore it and that would be a tip for you.

Sexuality is difficult at a young age and there just jelouse that you have done something to make yourself unique. You shouldnt take it too harshly but if it gets worse you could tell someone you can trustas in a trusted adult they will help you with who you are.

    Hopw i helped xx
