Hi Amy,
It’s really good to hear from you and I’m concerned, as it seems like you’re having a tough time. It sounds as though you hate a lot about the way you look and that you’re trying to change your shape and size by exercising and watching what you eat.
I get the feeling that you’re comparing yourself to other people and feel that they are a perfect size without doing as much. Everyone is different and it’s normal for people’s bodies to work in different ways.
You mentioned that you’re sometimes exercising until you ache too much to carry on. Exercise is a healthy part of life but it’s really important to make sure that it doesn’t damage your health. Perhaps you could have a think about talking to your doctor about healthy eating and exercise.
It might also be useful for you to have a look at the NHS Five a Day webpage, it gives lots of information and advice about healthy eating.
I can hear that you’d like to be able to enjoy yourself without worrying about your weight and how you look and I’m wondering whether you’d like to look at the information and advice on the How you look page.
How would you feel about coming to talk to a ChildLine counsellor about how you see yourself? You can talk to a counsellor free on 0800 1111, chat online or send an email. I know that they’d really like to help support you with what you’re going through.
Thank you for writing to me.
Take care,
Sam
