Hi there
Thank you for your letter. From what you have said it sounds like you’re not happy with your body. You talk about wanting to lose weight and be thin like your friend. Everyone is a unique individual with totally different body shapes. As long as you’re healthy it’s ok to be whatever weight you are.
You talk about people telling your friend she is thin, but this doesn’t necessarily mean they think she looks good.
Although you’ve talked about wanting to lose weight you have also said that you know that by not eating you are damaging your body. It’s really important to eat a balanced diet with lots of fruit and vegetables to ensure you stay healthy. You could have a look at the B-eat website which offers information and support to young people who are concerned about eating disorders. You could also look at the Eating problems information on the Childline website.
It might be useful for you to talk to a ChildLine counsellor about how you feel, either in a 1-2-1 chat on the website or by calling on 0800 1111.
Take care,
Sam
