Hello
Thanks for getting in touch. It sounds as though this may be the first time you’ve spoken to anyone about your concern, so it’s great that you decided to contact me.
Although you’ve talked about feeling fat you also said you know you’re not overweight. You talk about not feeling hungry and wanting to throw up when you eat. You could have a look at www.b-eat.co.uk - a website which offers information and support to young people who are concerned about eating disorders. There is also some information on the Childline website on the eating problems page.
It sounds as though you are feeling quite nervous about spending time with your Dad after not seeing him for over a year. Feeling nervous about that is understandable. You could have a look at the home and school message boards to see if other young people have had similar experiences.
You told me that no-one else knows about what is happening – perhaps you could think about talking to a member of staff at school that you trust. You could talk to someone about one of your worries, without sharing everything that you have told me here.
I’m very concerned that you tried to hurt yourself. If you have any more feelings like this I think it would be a really good idea to get in touch with ChildLine. You can do this by phoning 0800 1111, or sign up and chat online, any time of day or night. The ChildLine counsellors are friendly, won’t judge you or put you down and they are not easily shocked. They will listen and help you talk through your worries and options.
Take care
Sam
