Hello
It’s natural that you would be worried about this – have you talked to the lad you were found next to? It might be embarrassing, but talking with him may help you piece together what happened.
The most direct way to find out any medical issues would be to go and see your GP doctor. Your doctor can tell you if you are pregnant or if you have a sexually transmitted infection. It's natural if you might feel a little uncomfortable talking with your GP about this, but try to remember that GP's are there to help and that they aren't there to judge you in any way. At 16 your GP should keep your appointment confidential but if you are worried about talking to your doctor you can also contact either Brook or the Family Planning Association for information and advice. Their websites will also give you information about where the closest clinic is to you. You can find out more on www.brook.org.uk (for Brook) or www.fpa.org.uk (for the Family Planning Association).
Drinking too much alcohol can put people in difficult or even dangerous situations. It’s important to think carefully about drinking alcohol and whether you feel able to stop yourself drinking too much. For more information about drinking alcohol you can check out www.drinkaware.co.uk. However, whether you have been drinking or not it’s never okay for anyone to take advantage of you if you are in a state where you can’t say ‘yes’ to sex.
Perhaps you can think about what you might want to do and if you do need to talk about this again, please feel free to talk to a ChildLine counsellor. The counsellors are friendly and understand the sorts of problems you might be worried about and are trained to help. They won’t judge you or put you down and they are not easily shocked. Instead, they will listen and help talk you through your options.
Take care
Sam
