Hi there
Thanks for writing to let me know how you’re feeling right now. It sounds like there are a few things making life difficult for you at the moment and because of them, you are struggling to concentrate on your studies. It also seems like you feel that others have high expectations of you.
I think that your mum’s illness might be worrying you, and it sounds like you are doing your best to care for her. It can be very tiring to have lots of caring responsibilities, especially when you are a young person. You don’t say whether anyone supports you with this but I’m wondering whether you have any support from an organisation named Young Carers. They can offer support to young people who look after a family member. You could have a look at the Young Carers website - it has lots of useful information.
If you feel that caring responsibilities are affecting your studies, it might be a good idea to let one of your teachers know at school. Schools have a duty to be supportive towards young carers and they might be able to help you with study support.
You mention in your letter “a confusing nan and injuries”. I’m not sure whether it is your nan or someone else who has been injured. It is important to remember that if you ever feel in immediate danger, you could ring 999 to get help.
If you feel you might like to talk this through some more, you could speak to a counsellor who will listen and help you find a way forward. You can do this by phoning 0800 1111 or sign up on the ChildLine website and use the 1-2-1 online chat to talk to a counsellor.
I hope this helps.
Take Care
Sam
