Hi there
Thanks for writing to me about these worries you’re having about your SATs. It sounds as though you’re feeling pretty stressed right now, so it was a good idea to contact me.
You’ve said that you got really nervous about your SATs and now feel that you didn’t do well. Sometimes when we feel really worried about an exam, it could be that we’ve done better than we think we have. Perhaps it would be worthwhile talking to a teacher who you like and trust about your worries, to see what he or she says and if they could help to set your mind at ease at all.
I understand that it can be really stressful thinking about how you’ve done on exams. I wonder if it might be worth thinking about a few things you could do to take your mind off your worries until the results arrive. Perhaps you could spend some time doing the things like enjoy, like maybe sports or music or art, to see if that can turn your brain off from all these thoughts for a while. You can find more information and tips in the beating anxiety section of Explore.
If you’re ever finding yourself feeling really worried about it all, you could give a ChildLine counsellor a call on 0800 1111. Calls are free and won’t show up on the phone bill, including mobiles. Or you could sign up on the website and chat online with a counsellor. There’s always someone here to talk to you.
Take care, and good luck with your results.
Sam
