Hi there
Thanks for your letter. Exams can be a really stressful time and it sounds like your finding it difficult to revise but you’ve done very well to start to talk about it.
You say you’re finding it hard to concentrate on revision. Maybe you could think about what it is in particular that’s making it hard to concentrate. For example, are there other problems going on for you at the moment, is the place where you’re trying to revise a good place for you to learn, or is it something else?
Feeling stressed, in itself, might also be making it harder to concentrate. Whatever might be going on for you, it could help to talk to a Childline Counsellor directly (through 1-2-1 chat or by phone 0800 1111) as talking can help to get things off your mind.
It’s really good that you’ve tried lots of different ways to revise, but it seems like you might be a bit frustrated that these haven’t been useful for you. Everybody learns in a different way. So, if you find it hard to remember things from reading and taking notes, maybe you might prefer to imagine that you’re explaining it to a friend. If you’re looking for more revision tips, you can find some on the ChildLine website by visiting the homework and exam tips page. There are also some tips on how to beat anxiety which will help you de-stress. That way, you can relax and refocus.
You’ve also talked about staying behind with teachers and maybe, if you’re still having difficulties, you could think about whether you’d find it useful to talk to a teacher that you trust about this.
Good luck and take care,
Sam
