Hi there
Thanks for your letter, it sounds like things at school and home are pretty hard for you at the moment, and as though you’re really missing your old school friends.
Starting at a new school can be a big change that many people might find difficult. Perhaps it might be worthwhile talking to your parents or teachers about joining an after school club doing something you enjoy – maybe something like sports, art or drama – which could give you the chance to make some friends at your new school.
Sometimes parents can be strict, and it’s hard for young people to understand why they make the rules they make. It sounds like you have a lot of responsibility with so many brothers and sisters, which must be tough. Might you feel able to have a chat with your mum about how much you miss your old friends while you’re helping her with all the work?
It concerns me to hear you say that sometimes you get so bored you think about running away, and that you hate life. Those sound like really heavy thoughts to be carrying with you. I know that sometimes running away can seem like a good option, but often young people who do so can put themselves at risk and end up in difficult situations. Talking about your feelings can help, so maybe you would like to email a ChildLine counsellor, have a 1-2-1 online counselling session, or call free on 0800 1111.
Everything you say to ChildLine is confidential unless you or someone else is in danger, or someone in a position of authority (like a teacher) is hurting you, so it would be a safe place for you to talk.
Take care
Sam
