Hi there
Thank you for your letter, you have been really brave telling me what’s happening with your Dad. It sounds like life is quite hard for you at the moment.
What you have told me sounds really serious. No one has the right to hurt you. Parents do have the right to make the rules and teach children right from wrong, and there are lots of ways to do this, but hurting them is not part of it. It sounds like what is happening to you at home is what’s known as physical and emotional abuse. At ChildLine we don’t believe its ok for a child to be hurt in any country, but we understand what you say about things happening differently in other countries. As you have said in England it’s not right to do this. In fact in England it is against the law. There is more information you may find useful on the abuse and safety section of the ChildLine website.
You talk about feeling that you would rather be in heaven, and I wonder what you mean by this. It sounds like you might want to kill yourself and that makes me feel really concerned about you. It is good to hear that your older brother makes you feel happy and that you trust him. How would it feel to talk to him about how what iss happening is making you feel?
Perhaps you could contact a ChildLine counsellor, you can call 0800 1111, email or have a 1-2-1 online chat in confidence to talk about your feelings and explore options. You have made a really big step today telling me what has happened and ChildLine will be able to offer you ongoing support and advice so you can get the respect and safe home life you deserve.
Take care
Sam
