Hi there
Thank you for your letter. You say that you like a boy but that you feel that he doesn’t like you because of your skin colour even though he says that he does.
No-one has the right to judge you or anyone else because of their skin colour. Every person is different and we should all respect each others differences and it sounds like you feel that way too as you say that people shouldn’t hate each other.
I’m not sure from what you’ve said what it is that he says or does that makes you feel like he doesn’t like you, but it sounds like whatever it is it really upsets you.
You say that you would like to talk to him when you get back to school. It sounds from that maybe you want to find out more about what it is he actually thinks.
You might find it helpful to talk through what you’d like to say to him with a ChildLine counsellor. It would give you a chance to see what it might be like for you and what you hope will come out of talking to him about this. You can talk with a ChildLine counsellor by phone or online.
There’s more information in Explore about racism and what you can do if you feel that someone is being racist towards you.
You’ve done really well writing to me and ChildLine would really to support you.
Take care,
Sam
