Thank you for your email. You have told me that you are very scared about telling your mum and dad you are gay and are not sure how to tell them.
It can be really scary telling someone you are gay for the first time. It’s up to you to choose when you feel comfortable to tell those close to you. You might like to consider running through what you would like to say and how you could say it to your mum and dad with a ChildLine counsellor.
There is information in Explore on various topics, including sexual orientation. You will find lots of information here on coming out.
You can also use our message boards where young people are able to talk about their experiences and feelings on many different topics and get support from other young people.
Remember that you can call ChildLine on 0800 1111 (calls are free and won't show up on a phone bill) or have an online 1-2-1 chat with one of our counsellors who will listen to you.
