Hi there
Thanks for sending in your letter, and for sharing how you are feeling.
You should be very proud of the steps you have already taken. For many young people, just accepting to themselves that they are gay can be a very difficult first step. You have done this and had the courage to talk to your parents too.
Some families can find it hard to understand what they are being told, and it may take them a long time to fully accept who you are, unfortunately some may never properly understand.
As a young person, being gay can feel like a lonely place. It can seem like you are different from everyone else but this doesn’t make you a weirdo. There are lots of gay people out there and at one point or another it’s likely that many of them have felt exactly the way you feel now. You might find it helpful to have a look at Young Stonewall.
Talking about your feelings can really help. If you wanted you could talk to a ChildLine counsellor, through the ChildLine website, by email, or 121 chat (like MSN) or give them a ring on 0800 1111.
Take care
Sam
