Hi there
Thank you for writing to me. It sounds like you care about your friend a lot and I think that you have done really well contacting me to ask for help.
I get the impression that you are feeling very worried as you say that your friend tells you she is cutting herself and then when she stops texting you don’t know what has happened to her. It sounds like this can be really stressful and upsetting for you. You also say that the next day she just blanks you, and this sounds confusing.
I am concerned to hear that your friend is telling you that she is cutting herself and taking pills to try to kill herself. What your friend is doing is dangerous and if you ever feel that she needs medical help the quickest way to get it is to call 999.
It is important that you know that it is not your responsibility to keep your friend safe. Maybe you could speak to an adult you trust about what is happening. ChildLine would really like to support you with what this so you are welcome to contact a ChildLine counsellor either by phone on 0800 1111 or using online chat (like msn). Maybe you could encourage your friend to call us too. We are confidential so we do not pass on anything that you tell us to anybody else unless we believe that a young person’s life is in immediate danger.
You and your friend might also find it helpful to have a look at the message boards on the ChildLine website.
Take care
Sam
