Hi and thanks for your letter.
It's good that you are sharing your worry with me and I can understand that it is a scary situation for you. But you are not alone with this problem, lots of young people are finding themselves living and caring for an alcoholic parent.
I'm wondering if you have managed to tell anyone else yet about your mum? Do you have a dad around? If not, is there a close or trusted adult living nearby that you could share your worries with? Or even tell a teacher in school, this could be a good place to start.
I'm worried that you are saying you are scared. Why is this? Is this because your mum is getting angry and violent towards you?
I would urge you to talk to someone as soon as you can or think about coming and talking to a ChildLine counsellor if you would find this easier. You can do this by phoning 0800 1111 or come and have an online 1-2-1 chat with a counsellor.
Have a look at the ChildLine message boards and see if any other young people can support you.
There are other support websites for young people living with alcoholic parents but have a look at www.nacoa.org.uk this is specifically for young people.
Take care
Sam
