Hi there
Thanks for writing to me and for sharing what is going on for you with your Mum. It is really good that you have been able to talk about how you are feeling.
It sounds as if your Mum has changed since Colin came into her life and she has been drinking every day. You say that this has made you angry and sad. It is your Mum’s job to look after you and it sounds as if this is not happening when she has been drinking. Alcohol can change the way that people behave, but it is still very wrong that she hits you and is nasty to you.
I wonder if anyone else has noticed that your Mum has been drinking more, and how she has changed? The most important thing is that you are safe and one way of staying safe could be to talk to someone that you trust about how things are for you at home when your Mum has been drinking. This could help you and your Mum to get some support and to start to improve things. Please remember that ChildLine are also here to talk whenever you need.
The ChildLine website does have information about alcohol and what you could do if your parent is drinking. Perhaps you could also take a look at the alcohol message board and see how other people cope with problems with alcohol.
Take care
Sam
