Hi Josh
Thanks for your letter and explaining how you are feeling at the moment.
I can hear that you would really like to have better communication with your parents and are trying very hard to help them understand you. Well done for trying to achieve this.
It sounds both upsetting and frustrating for you when it seems they are not listening to you properly.
Many young people go through difficult times when it might feel like parents really cannot see where they are coming from. You don’t say what you have tried so far, but some young people who find it difficult to talk to their parents, think about writing them a letter. If you decided to do this, you could firstly spend some time thinking about what you would like them to know. Perhaps you could give them the letter when the time feels right.
If you would like to talk any of this through, why not call 0800 11111 for free and speak to a ChildLine counsellor. You can also have a 1-2-1 chat online if you prefer.
You might also find it useful to check out the ChildLine message boards where you can read the thoughts, feelings and ideas of other young people who might be in a similar situation to yourself. If you sign up you can post your own questions and comments and get help from the ChildLine community.
I do hope this helps. Thanks again for writing in.
Take Care
Sam
