Hi there
Thanks for your letter you’ve been really brave sharing what’s happening at home.
You say you feel hurt when you see mum drunk. It seems as though you and your sister care about her and don’t like to see her upset. Her behaviour though is not acceptable. She needs help.
Is there ever a time you could talk to her when she isn’t drunk to let her know how you both feel?
You could do this face to face or write down how you feel in a letter to her. It’s important that you feel safe at home.
If you don’t feel safe perhaps you could talk to a teacher you trust or another family member about mums drinking and how you feel.
You can get more information about coping with parents who drink by checking out www.nacoa.org.uk
Have a think about coming and speaking to a Childline counsellor by phoning 0800 1111 or using online 1-2-1 chat.
You may find it useful to check the ChildLine message boards others may give you advice and support with this situation
I hope this helps
Sam
