Hi there thanks for your message.
You have done the right thing by looking for advice on this. It sounds like you are going through a difficult time at home as you mentioned having arguments with your parents which can result in them hitting you. No one has the right to hit you. Your parents are adults and should know that hitting you is wrong. No matter how stressed or tired your mum or dad may be they should not be taking their problems out on you.
It’s important that you are safe at home and if you feel there is a chance that your parents may hit you, maybe you could think about going somewhere within your home that you could stay safe. Somewhere like your bedroom or another room that you could lock the door. If you feel that you are in any immediate danger you could also call the police on 999.
Perhaps you could think about talking to a trusted adult about what is happening at home as they may be able to give you more advice or speak to your parents with you or on your behalf. Maybe someone like a family member or a parent’s friend.
Remember you are not to blame for what is happening at home so please think about coming back to Childline to talk some more about what is happening at home. Counsellors are here to listen and talk to you about your options for getting further support such as social services who are there to protect young people from harm.
You can talk to a ChildLine counsellor by signing up for an account and using online chat or email, or you can call ChildLine’s free telephone helpline on 0800 1111. ChildLine are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Take care
Sam
