Hi there
Thank you for contacting me, I can see that your family is really important to you. It's understandable that watching your brother and mum fight, and knowing that your parents are having difficulties has left you feeling sad, scared, and confused as to what to do.
It sounds like home is a hard place to be right now, I wonder if you’ve been able to speak to anyone in your family about how you’ve been feeling. Unfortunately sometimes families get very concerned about their own life and forget how other people are feeling, so they need a little reminder.
If you haven’t already you could write a letter to someone in your family you have a good relationship with; writing what’s been happening and how it has left you feeling.
I can see that you want things to be better at home and it is okay to want that, but I’d also like you to remember that it is not your responsibility to make things better. What you can do is think of ways to cope with the uncertainty of your home life, maybe listening to music, or watching a film to distract yourself from the arguments.
If you’ve not already had a look you might find it useful to look at the message board on family relationships. Knowing that you’re not alone with your feelings, might help, and other young people might have suggestions for how they got through their feelings. You could also contact a ChildLine counsellor to talk through how your feeling. You can call our freephone number on 0800 1111 or come online to have a 1-2-1 chat.
Take care,
Sam
