Hi there,
Thank you for your letter, it sounds like there is a lot going on for you. It seems like it would be really worrying to have your grandparents being ill and your mum having had three operations. From what you are saying in your letter it seems like you are keeping all your worries and feelings to yourself because you don’t want any sympathy.
Sometimes just having someone around who knows what you are going through and that you are struggling can be a big help in itself. It doesn’t mean anyone has to treat you any differently, but just so you have some space to talk about how you are feeling, cry if you need to and maybe even get some ideas of where you can get help. You seem to be carrying a really heavy burden at the moment and no one should have to deal with this all on their own.
Your school can help if they know what is going on for you – it’s not about getting people to feel sorry for you, it’s about getting some help and everyone needs help sometimes. You say you hate your school and every part of your life, do you think that you might be able to contact a ChildLine counsellor and talk to one of them about how you feel?
There is support out there for you and it’s important that you do know that there are other young people going through similar situations and that there are services out there who can help. For example, you could use our message boards to see other young people’s comments about this or you can contact The Children's society or Young carers. Have a look at these and think about talking with someone about all the things you are facing at the moment. Remember you don’t have to go through all of this all on your own.
Take care,
Sam
