Hello Katie
Thank you for your letter, I’m really glad that you decided to write to me and ask for help. There seems to be a lot going on for you at the moment. You’ve told me that you feel like you are bad at everything and that your moods are always changing.
You said that when you feel angry or sad it makes you feel better when you cut yourself. It sounds like self harming is helping you to cope with these difficult feelings. I’m very concerned to hear that you cut your wrists, this is a very dangerous place to cut yourself. Perhaps you might like to consider how you can keep yourself safe. It’s also important to make sure that you keep your cuts clean so that they don’t get infected.
Perhaps you could think about an adult that you trust that you could tell about what’s happening? You have done so well to tell me about what’s going on for you.
You mentioned being bad at money, family, boys, friends and teachers. How would you feel about signing up for a ChildLine account and having a 1-2-1 chat with one of our counsellors (a bit like MSN), or calling us on 0800 1111 (this is a free number even from a mobile and it won’t show up on your bill). That way you will be able to have a safe space to talk about what may be going on for you, whenever you feel ready.
ChildLine is here to support you. You can also find more information about self harming and peer support on our message boards.
Perhaps the next time you are thinking about cutting yourself you could try giving ChildLine a call or come through to us for a 1-2-1 chat (link) to talk a counsellor.
Hope this helps and take care
Sam
