Hi there, thanks for your letter. That's a really good idea that your school are making everyone aware of cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying is bullying using technology. That means a person or group of people use the internet, a mobile phone or any other handheld device to bully someone else.
Cyberbullying can happen by people who you know, but also people that you don't know who you might have made contact with online. People can be bullied through texts, MSN messages, or even upsetting photos. They can also be called names or have threats made against them with the intention of frightening or scaring them.
Much the same as when it happens face to face in school or college, any kind of bullying is not acceptable. For those who are bullied and those that do the bullying it can be a very stressful experience.
It is important that you are really careful about giving out private information about yourself when you are online. The person on the other end of the computer might not always be who they say they are. Find out more about how to stay safe online.
There are lots of websites with information on cyberbullying - you can start by googling cyberbullying and seeing what it comes up with.
Hope this helps
Sam
