Hi there,
I’m really glad you have written to me about this. Being called names is something that happens to lots of children and young people and you talking about it and asking for some help, might help them as well if they read your letter.
Any kind of bullying is wrong, including calling people names, and it is not right that you have to put up with this. You have the right to feel safe at school and enjoy your time there.
Is there an adult you can get support from who can speak to the school again on your behalf, say your mum or dad or even a teacher that you happen to get along with? It is important that the school and whoever cares for you at home, know that you are feeling so sad that you don’t want to go back. The school should have a policy and some rules on how to deal with the situation and you can ask to see it.
Who do you talk to when you are feeling sad? Do you have friends or brothers and sisters that you are able to share things with?
It would be good if you could phone Childline 0800 1111 or log in for a 1-2-1 online chat and talk to one of the counsellors. You could tell them a lot more about your situation and together they would help you work out a plan to deal with this.
Thanks so much for your letter
Take care
Sam
