Hi there
Thank you very much for taking the time to write to me. I can tell that you care a lot about your brother and it’s very wrong for anyone to be calling him names. What you’ve described sounds like bullying and nobody has the right to behave like this towards him. I’m not sure what support your brother is already getting for his hearing problems but I was thinking that perhaps it might be useful for him to have a look at the National Deaf Children’s Society website.
I’m also hearing that this is a really difficult time for you as well as your brother so please remember that you can always talk to a ChildLine counsellor to get some support. There’s a website for brothers and sisters of people with disabilities too called Sibs UK. They can offer further support as well as information and advice for you.
Bullying is never OK and I’m concerned that you and your brother going through such a lot. Perhaps you could have a think about telling an adult you trust about what’s been going on so they can help to stop it.
You can also contact a ChildLine counsellor to discuss how you feel and what options there are. You can call our freephone on 0800 1111 or come online to have a 1-2-1 online chat. Thank you again for sending me this message and I hope that things get better for you and your brother.
Take care,
Sam
